Master Builders Australia has welcomed the appointment of Mark Brennan as the Australian Small Business Commissioner.

Chief Executive officer of Master Builders Australia, Wilhelm Harnisch, said the appointment was a positive development for small businesses in the building and construction industry.

“A very large portion of businesses in the building and construction industry are small businesses, in particular, the residential building sector. They make a vital contribution to the Australian economy and our social fabric.

“Small businesses in the building industry carry a disproportionately high regulatory burden. The appointment of a national small business commissioner, therefore, is an important step to improving the lines of communication between small business and government as part of a broader regulatory reform process.

“Master Builders look forward to working with Mr Brennan to improve business conditions and outcomes for small businesses in the building and construction industry,” Mr Harnisch said.
