New South Wales’ Mark Newman was named Master Builders Toyota National Young Builder of Year for 2018 at the Master Builders National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards in Adelaide on the weekend.

Director of award-winning building company, Newmark Constructions, Mark launched his career in the building and construction industry over 20 years ago, earning his stripes as a Carpenter, before going on to complete a Certificate IV and Diploma.

According to Denita Wawn, CEO of Master Builders Australia, Mark’s exceptional skills were recognised by the Association from an early age.

“In 1996, Mark was awarded the prestigious title of Master Builders Association Apprentice of the Year and he was an MBA Group Training Scheme Apprentice from 1996 to 2000,” Denita Wawn said.

“He has always had a bond to the MBA throughout his career either as an apprentice, a member and now running his own successful building company, growing the industry and supporting its excellence,” she said.

“Quality workmanship is something that underpins Mark’s approach to every project. His recent renovation of a stone-built worker’s cottage and rear addition is no exception and is a masterclass in building by a talented young builder,” Denita Wawn said.

“Mark has built a reputation as an easy, professional and organised builder and has developed important and lasting partnerships with elite architects throughout Sydney to ensure his clients get the best outcomes,” she said.

“His strong ties to our Association continue and he is actively involved in the association in varying roles. He is the current Junior Vice President of the Master Builders (NSW) Northern Suburbs Division and has sat on the committee for the past two years,” Denita Wawn said.

“The value and time Mark places on developing his skills and building his business are to be commended and he should be proud of his achievement on a national stage,” Denita Wawn said.
